Epiphyllum hybrid 'Ruby Snowflake' - Registered in Epiphyllum Society of America (ESA) by Cactus Pete in 1975.
Dark Red. Narrow and crinkled petals
Medium {M} sized flowers (15-18cm)
Reg#: 05982
Note 1: This flower looks quite shredded and is a firstseason flower so may mature next season into something slightly different. Time will tell.
Note 2: Ruby Snowflake was hybridised over 20 years BEFORE Ruby Pinwheel and there is no connection at all between them. This hybrid was 'obtained' by John W. Lee and is registered in 1975 at the ESA by Cactus Pete Nursery. The origin of 'Ruby Snowflake' is unknown but the stems and the flower morphology are similar to the description of Curt Knebel's plants. Cactus Pete likely was one of the persons who had received material from Knebel. 'Ruby Snowflake' then became one of the hybridizing partners of Wressey Cocke's famous “fifties series”, another lineage of multi-petaled epicacti.
The cutting you receive is from the same plant as the photos you see above
